  • Look Inside

During the first few years of life, children acquire an ability to read other(and their own)minds without obvious effort or formal instruction. Such ability has been called as “theory of mind” in scientific literatures. We reviewed principal issues of theory of mind from the perspectives of developmental psychology and cognitive neuroscience. Specifically, we described two hypotheses(meta-representation theory and executive function theory)which may account for normal development of theory of mind. Importance of the role of the frontal lobe function was discussed.
