I．緒言

　眼瞼下垂の手術方法のうち，眼瞼挙筋前転法がもつとも生理的状態に近くなるすぐれた方法であることが一般に認められているが，眼瞼挙筋作用がある程度以上存在しない症例では効果がないと，その適応には限界があることも知られている。しかし，眼瞼挙筋前転法が眼瞼下垂に対するもつともすぐれた手術方法である以上，その適応はできるだけ拡大されることが期待される。

　また，眼瞼下垂の手術は本来その程度に応じた定量的手術として行なわれるべきものと考えられる。とくに，眼瞼下垂のうち，もつとも頻度の高い先天性眼瞼下垂は早期に手術すべきであることが，小児眼科の立場から要求される現在，定量的手術の意義は大きい。

During the past two and half years, 64 cases (81 eyes) with various blepharoptosis were operated by levator resecton via a skin incisionusing a modified of Berke's method. Successful results were obtained in 49 cases of congenital ptosis including Marcus Gunn phenomenon and 14 cases of acquired ptosis such as oculomotor palsy, myopathy, myasthenia, trauma and ble-pharochalasis except for only one case with ab-scence of the levator muscle.
